The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) reported on Tuesday that it had authorized the American tennis coaches Bob Bryan and Mardy Fish with a four-month suspension and fined them $10,000 “for violating tennis betting sponsorship rules.”
Suspensions, clarifying the ITIAwill not take effect unless there is a new violation within four months, which began on November 11.
Bob Bryan and Mardy Fish was authorized after recognizing the promotion of a betting operator on social networks. Both “fully cooperated with the investigation of ITIA and retracted the messages immediately,” the agency said.
Both are recognized as part of the team of trainers of US Davis Cup in 2022which means that they are considered “covered persons” and are subject to the rules of the sport in relations with betting operators.
The ITIA note that “the section D.1.b of the rules of Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP) of 2022 establishes that “no covered person shall directly or indirectly facilitate, encourage and/or promote tennis betting”.
“Fish and Bryan also agreed to cooperate with ITIA in education and prevention initiatives to highlight the importance of integrity in the game,” said ITIAan independent body created by International Tennis Governing Body to promote, encourage, enhance and safeguard the integrity of professional tennis worldwide.
