The athlete of Muleño Moha Katir and the Jumillano Mario Monreal warm up for the European cross country. The Spanish Athletics Federation has announced the names of the athletes who will be part of the national team that will compete in the European Cross Country Championships to be held in Turin on December 11.
All teams will go all out in this 28th running of the continental event, with six members in each category, both men and women, plus the four athletes who make up the mixed relay. The absolute male category will consist of Massimo Hassaous, Abdessamad Oukhelfen, Carlos Mayo, Mohamed Katir van Muleño, Roberto Alaiz and Sergio Paniagua. The category will feature Irene Sánchez Escribano, Carolina Robles, Naima Ait Alibou, Isabel Barreiro, Marta García and Águeda Marqués.
Adel Mechaal and Laura Luengo have been excluded due to technical criteria taking into account the equality shown between them and some of the shortlisted candidates.
The mixed relay will consist of Solange Pereira, Adrián Ben, Jesús Gómez and Rosalía Tárraga. Among the men under 20, the presence of the Jumilla athlete Mario Monreal is striking.
