Juan Ayusocyclist of UAE Team Emiratesdeclared this Saturday, on the eve of his participation in Madrid standardthat returning to the Spanish capital brings back fond memories of his eventual podium finish Back to Spainwhere he fulfilled “his childhood dream”.
The 20-year-old cyclist from Barcelona is one of the Spanish cyclists with the greatest international projection. This 2022 awarded the Getxo Circuit, he was third in the Tour of Spain, fourth in the Tour de Romandie and fifth in the Tour of Catalonia.
“In Madrid I fulfilled one of my childhood dreams and I’m proud that my first big podium was in the Tour of Spain, my home race,” said Ayuso, whose victory in Getxo relieved him of the pressure for his debut in a big round
“Winning the Getxo was good for me before the Vuelta. I’ve been pretty close to victory all year and that victory took the pressure off me to win because I was able to come to the Vuelta to enjoy and learn, ” he says.
“I am very grateful to the team that I have. I started doing concentrations with them in Juvenil and you always try to learn from the greats and from the most veteran. I am at that moment where you have to learn the everything you can. because I think I believe that all the teachings can make you a better runner”, he confessed.
The route of the Madrid Criterium will run along Paseo de la Castellana starting from José Ortega y Gasset street to the approaches to Plaza de Colón, where it will return to the starting point. There will be a total of 30 laps in the elimination test and 35 laps in the scoring test.
