The FIM awards its 2022 champions

The Palacongressi Rimini – IEG Expo in Rimini became the scene of the FIM Awards ceremony, the culmination of the 2022 season in terms of motorsports on two wheels. After two years marked by the pandemic, the ceremony returned to normal and more than 800 people attended the party where Spanish pilots Toni Bou, Álvaro Bautista, Augusto Fernández, Izan Guevara, José Antonio Rueda, Álvaro Díaz became the protagonists. and the Trial of Nations men’s and women’s teams.

Former Superbike world champion and former MotoGP rider James Toseland hosted the Gala with Barbara Pedrotti Amy Reynolds and Matt Roberts. At the ceremony, the FIM world champions, representing six disciplines (circuit racing, track racing, motocross, enduro, rally-raid and trial), were invited to go on stage to collect their respective medals. The award ceremony is distributed in blocks starting from the FIM Trophy for Women in Motorcycling to the Women’s European Cup (Italy); the FIM Environment Trophy for Castelo Branco-First training for the enduro kids team (Portugal); the FIM Trophy of the Future to the Yamaha bLU cRU Project and the FIM Road Safety Trophy to Edustrada – PNES Project (Italy).

Following this, the FIM Director of Circuit Racing, Franck Vayssie, presented the circuit racing category medals to the FIM Sidecar World Champion – Todd Ellis; Sidecar FIM passenger Emmanuelle Clément; Mike Di Meglio, FIM Endurance World Champion, FCC TSR Honda France, FIM Endurance World Champion; the Supersport World Champion, Dominique Aegerter, and the SSP300 Champion, Álvaro Díaz, and the Moto3 World Champions, Izan Guevara, and the Moto2 World Champion, Augusto Fernández.

The vice president of the FIM, Ignasi Verneda, was in charge of presenting the medals for the Trial category, which included the Trial3 World Champion, Harry Hemingway, the Trial2 World Champion, Sondre Haga, the Trial2 World Champion, Women’s Trial, Emma Bristow, and the X-Trial World Champion, Toni Bou, the first of three times he took to the stage to collect an award. The FIM’s Director of Testing, Thierry Michaud, completed the delivery at Spain’s Women’s Trial of Nations and Men’s Trial of Nations.

Before handing out the medals to the 2022 Grand Champions, FIM President Jorge Viegas invited Valentino Rossi on stage to collect his FIM Special Award.
