Raheem Sterling has arrived in Qatar, after his trip to London to be with his family after they suffered a break-in at his home and a violent attack, and the winger trained on Friday with the England team, who will play this Saturday against France in the quarterfinals of the World Cup Qatar 2022.
Because of his move to England, Sterling was left out in the round of 16 against Senegal (3-0 for ‘pross’). Due to the difficult situation that his family was in, Southgate did not object to leave the concentration and go with his family to support them.
Gareth Southgate, England manager, has openly acknowledged his doubts regarding Sterling, due to his fatigue and lack of training in recent days, who will play against France in the semifinals on the line.
The England manager said of Sterling: “He had two long flights and missed a lot of training. We’re at the stage of the tournament where we need to be at the top”, Southgate said of the Chelsea player.
