French Stéphanie Frappart has donated to the FIFA Museum the shirt she wore in the Costa Rica-Germany match of the first stage which went down in history as it was the first in a men’s World Cup to be captained by a woman.
The French collegiate gave the garment to the director of the FIFA Museum in Doha, Marco Fazzone, and it will soon be displayed in the Museum’s permanent exhibition in Zurich (Switzerland).
Frappart made history by directing the match between Costa Ricans and Germans in the 1st and becoming the first female main referee in a match of the men’s universal tournament. The match ended with a win for the ‘Mannschaft’ (2-4) on the final day of group E but it was not enough for them to reach the round of 16, finishing in third place behind Japan and Spain.
