This Saturday, two planes full of Argentinian fans still landed at Doha International Airport, almost all of them without a ticket in their possession.
The Lusail Stadium will host nearly 90,000 spectators in the World Cup final, almost half of which will be Argentinian. The Albiceleste will receive the support of the majority in the stands, as has been the case throughout the tournament, and that many of their fans present in Doha have not been able to get a ticket. This Saturday, two more planes full of South American fans landed at the international airport in the emirate’s capital, almost all of them without a ticket in their possession.
FIFA put one final package up for sale on Friday with about 10,000 seats, mostly coming from returns from fans of other teams. Fans who wanted to get one had to go to the official outlet on the FIFA website and hope for luck. Ticket prices for the final range from 194 euros for category 4, reserved only for residents of Qatar, to 1,511 euros for category 1. In between, you could also get tickets for 569 and 939 euros. Now that the official route has been ruled out, resale is the only source for the thousands of Argentines who dream of accessing Lusail, where it has been impossible to find tickets for less than €4,000.
FIFA has asked the allocated fans to take their seats at least one hour before kick-off for the World Cup closing ceremony. It will reference, through music and poetry, the way the world has come together over the 29 days of the tournament. The musical performances will be provided by Davido and Aisha, Ozuna and Gims, Nora Fatehi, Balqees, Rahma Riad and Manal, who will sing the official World Cup songs live.
