Regragui: “In 15 years an African team will win the World Cup”

Date:

Morocco’s coach, Walid Regragui, expressed his disappointment on Saturday due to losing the World Cup bronze medal match in Qatar against Croatia, but assured that “in time what has been done will be appreciated” and predicted that “in fifteen years an African team will win the World Cup” .

“Croatia beat us today because they have a lot of experience. They beat us in the first half and were able to save the result in the second, when we improved,” said Regragui.

“We are disappointed, but tomorrow we will realize what we did. The step is too high, to look for third place you have to have everything at 100%. I’m proud of my players, they fought until the end”assured the Morocco coach.

“When we invent, we know we’re at a great levelWe are facing big countries. We just had good games, we showed that we work well in Africa, that we are getting closer,” he commented.

“France and Croatia are above us, but very little above us. In fifteen years an African team will win the World Cup, we will come back and gain experience,” said Regragui.

Regragui said the generation of players he leads, the first from an African country to reach the semifinals of a World Cup, may be the best in the history of that continent, but for that, he added, “you have to win an Africa Cup”.

“Before being king of the world, you have to be king at home. We have to dominate the continent and then we will be the best generation in history”, emphasized the Morocco coach.
