Izarra missed the victory against Racing Rioja (3-1)

Izarra added three points to his locker after winning 3-1 against Racing this Saturday at Merkatondoa. Izarra came into the game with a reinforced spirit after securing a 1-4 win against Arnedo. For its part, Racing Rioja lost with a result of 1-3 in the previous match against Tudelano and accumulated three consecutive defeats in the competition. After getting the result, the team from Estellés was seventh, while Carrera was sixteenth at the end of the game.

The match started on the right foot for the eleven from Estelles, who opened the scoring with a goal from Madariaga in the 16th minute. After that, a new opportunity allowed Izarra to increase the score in the 19th minute thanks to the success in front of the Nowend goal. Racing Rioja narrowed the gap with a goal from Sabater in the 27th minute, thus ending the first half with a 2-1 scoreline.

In the second half, luck came for the local team, who put more ground in the middle with a goal from Iriondo in the 78th minute, which ended the match with a final result of 3-1.

Both coaches made moves on the benches. The Izarra coach brought Fernandez, Corral, Bicho, Vergarachea and Gómez for Madariaga, Rúper, Gorka Laborda, Nowend and Endika Irigoyen, while Racing Rioja brought José Viegas, Lapeña and Cerrajería for Pitu, Yonghao and Maiso.

The referee decided to advise the four players. On the locals’ side, yellow cards went to Gorka Laborda and Endika Irigoyen and on the Racing side, José Viegas and Rico were reprimanded.

With this defeat, after the match, Racing Rioja ranked sixteenth in the table with 15 points, occupying a relegation place in the Third Division. Izarra reached seventh place with 22 points.

The next Second Federation commitment for Izarra is against Real Sociedad C, while Racing Rioja will face Tarazona.
