Paul Monaghan, director of the Red Bull engine department, highlighted on the F1 Nation podcast on the championship’s official website that the title won this 2022 is “more deserved” when compared to all the championships won by the equipment .
“Of course, they are different, but it’s just as satisfying. I remember, when we won the first team championship in 2010, at some point we didn’t think we could do it, we just had expectations, but there are no more. So. we were a little relieved in being the champion”, explained the Red Bull engineer.
“This time, I feel it’s more deserved, instead of being lucky like in 2010. It might be a bit strange to say it like that, but that’s my answer,” he stresses.
Asked at what point in the season Red Bull realized it was the clear favorite for the title, Monaghan revealed “Holland and Monza, until then we’ve been really lucky overall. You shouldn’t underestimate your rivals, and Charles Leclerc is a great driver,” he said.
Paul Monaghan thanks “everyone who works and supports the team and Honda. There are so many people in Milton Keynes doing great things. A great effort from the whole team – we’re up against one of the biggest car manufacturers in the world [Ferrari] and we won them”, ditch.
