Levante and Eibar are tied and remain leaderless

Date:

Levante and Eibar held their clash at the Ciutat de València to a goalless draw in an entertaining match between two teams fighting for the lead but in which the equalizer was denied by both goals in favor of Las Palmas.

Although Levante extended their streak of ten games without defeat in the league and Eibar chained their fourth match without defeat, both are on the brink of the lead which remains in the hands of Las Palmas with 38 points and leaving Eibar second with 37 and Levante third with 36.

Eibar came close to taking the lead four minutes into the game, but a volley from Stoichkov, just meters from the small area, went over the crossbar. He had two more chances in the first ten minutes, with another shot from Stoichkov cleared by Cárdenas and a loose ball that Yanis Rahmani almost caught.

The ball in Eibar’s possession continued, although Levante did not suffer. The clash entered a more boring phase, where the two teams were in the middle of the field and did not step on the rival area in danger, although the one that was most comfortable was the Basque team, where Nolaskoain and Matheus were disconnected the Levantine Campaña from the game.

Levante stepped on the accelerator late in the first period, but De Frutos misfired on a cross from the right that looked to be the most dangerous arrival for the local team.

The first half ended with a bad taste in the mouth for Levante as they had to retire with an injury to Campaña due to muscular discomfort.

The rest was good for Levante, who began to command after the restart and almost took the prize of the goal after a rebound from Arbilla to a cross from Son from the right that Luca Zidane saved on the goal line .

But as the second half progressed, the game regained its balance.

Although Javi Calleja’s side regained control of the game, they lacked depth and on several scoring chances they struggled against Luca Zidane, first with a shot from Bouldini and later with another from Pepelu.

Late in the game, Eibar hit the ball against the post as Quique Gónzalez measured it, but it was Levante who finished the match looking for an opposing goal.
