In an action that brought together its entire sports family, the RACC presented this Wednesday the RACC Motorsport awards aimed at the club’s drivers who throughout the 2022 season have achieved titles or victories in all types of disciplines and categories in the world the motor. Prizes for the Volant RACC – Trofeu Mavisa and the PromoRACC for motorcycling were also awarded at the same event.
The president of the RACC, Josep Mateu, and the general manager of the club, Xavier Pérez, accompanied by various authorities including the president of the Catalan Automobilism Federation, Joan Ollé, and the vice president of the Motorcycling Federation, Òscar Pérez de Lara ; the general manager of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Josep Lluís Santamaria; and the vice president of the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation, José Vicente Medina, gave many awards in an action made this year without restrictions and therefore the drivers and their colleagues enjoyed a great night.
The winners of the prized R of the Trofeu RACC are five riders or co-drivers from different disciplines this season: Josep García (Spanish Enduro Champion, runner-up in the World and first in the ISDE), Pepe López and Borja Rozada ( winners of the Super Championship de España de Rallies), José Antonio Rueda (JuniorGP World Champion and Red Bull Rookies Cup Champion) and Daniel Juncadella (Endurance Champion of GT World Challenge Europe and International GT Challenge).
The winners of the Volant RACC – Trofeu Mavisa 2022 were the most applauded at the event, especially its winners, Sergi Pérez and Isaac Pujol; the second classified, Joan Sabater and Gerard Taberner; and the third, Joan Torres and Miquel Lorenzo, although the third is classified among the co-drivers as Jan Ibáñez.
In addition, at the event the drivers who achieved victories in their respective categories were honored: Sergi Francolí–María Salvo (Toyota Cup), Gil Membrado–Rogelio Peñate (Latvian Junior runner-up) and Sara Sánchez (Ibero- American Speed Champion).. Despite not being able to attend the event, Aleix Espargaró (4th place, with 1 victory, in MotoGP), Sergio García Dols (Moto3 runner-up), Àlex Palou (winner in the last Indycar race) and Carlos Sainz jr (1st victory in F-1, with 3 pole positions).
Regarding the promotion of young talents, it is worth noting the first classified in motorcycling PromoRACC with two champions, that of PromoRACC 1, Cesc Obiol, and of PromoRACC 2, Bryan Gutiérrez, both 10 years old .
Finally, in addition to thanking the sponsors RallyRACC, Rally Catalunya Històric and Volant RACC – Trofeu Mavisa for their cooperation, recognition was also given to all car and motorcycle drivers who did not win their championship.
