Erik ten Hag, manager of Manchester United, announced that the Old Trafford club have activated one-year contract extensions for four first-team players, including the England striker. Marcus Rashford. The others are also English internationals Luke Shaw and two other World Cup players: Diogo Dalot (Portugal) and Fred (Brazil).
Rashford, Diogo Dalot, Fred and Luke Shaw are in the final year of their respective contracts, but they had the option to extend them for another 12 months, as it happenedaccording to Ten Hag’s statements on the United website.
Rashford has regained his form this season under the command of Ten Hag- The English striker played 20 games in all competitions and scored 9 goals, before participating in the World Cup with the English team.
“Yes, I can confirm that,” said Ten Hag. about contract extensions for Rashford, Dalot, Fred and Shaw in an excerpt from an interview to be published on Manchester United’s website on Tuesday.
Ten Hag said: “We are happy because the team is going in the right direction and these players have made a huge contribution in that direction. We want to grow, support them and continue our process. That’s why we made these decisions, I’m sure it’s the right one. We want to build a team for the future and the players must be part of that.”
David de Gea, who is also in the final year of his contract and has a similar extension option, has yet to reach an agreement with Manchester United. Ten Hag said in October that he hoped the Spanish goalkeeper would stay at Old Trafford.
ANDl United, 5th in the Premier table, received on December 27, on Boxing Day, at Nottingham Forest, which is ranked 18th. The English championship will resume after the World Cup break.
