Vissel Kobe of the Japanese league has decided not to renew the contract of Bojan Krkic, 32, after joining their ranks in August 2021, the club said in a statement on Tuesday.
“We have decided not to renew Bojan Krkic’s contract for the 2023 season due to its expiration,” Vissel Kobe said without giving further details.
The text also includes Bojan’s reaction, thanking the club “for the opportunity to go to Japan, experience the country and the Japanese league.”
Thanks to Japan
“By interacting with the culture of this country, I felt love and respect from everyone. Because of this, I quickly adapted to the environment. This is where my Vissel Kobe challenge will end, but I will continue to cherish this memory,” said striker in the said statement.
During his season at Vissel, Bojan was sidelined on several occasions, including eleven weeks in July due to a meniscus injury in his left knee. In November 2021, the former Barça player had to travel to Spain to treat himself with a muscle injury, which caused him to miss the rest of the season.
Iniesta and Samper followed
Vissel Kobe, where Andrés Iniesta and Sergi Samper also play, occupy 13th place (out of 18) in the J-League after finishing last season in third place.
Last June, Vissel terminated the contract as coach of Miguel Ángel Lotina, who after his arrival in April managed to collect only two victories in his nine games as coach and left with the team in relegation position to the second division .
