Benfica suffered in their last game of the year, receiving a heavy defeat in their visit to Sporting de Braga on matchday 14 of the Primeira Liga. Despite the disappointment, the Lisbon team continues to lead with 37 points, although Porto reduced its deficit to 32 after beating Arouca (5-1) on Wednesday.
The trip to third-placed Braga, just a point behind Porto, looks set to be one of the most complicated Benfica will face this season and in practice it has been so to the point that it ended an amazing streak of 28 games. unbeaten since the start of the season counting the Champions League, Cup and League Cup.
