Re -Integration: – This is how Austria brings sick people back into working life

It is a strong signal for anyone who dares to return after a long illness: 87 percent of the affected affected manage to stay permanently in the work thanks to the reintegration section! The figures of the Statistics Austria, eliminated on behalf of the Ministry of Social Affairs, speak a clear language: everyone who gradually returns after a serious illness remains in the long term.

Between 2017 and 2023, more than 28,000 people took the opportunity to slowly return to their professional life after at least six weeks of sick leave. Most of them (55 percent women) were between 45 and 54 years old – and have been in the same operation for ten years on average. They usually needed four to six months to start again as employees of partly after their sick leave. The model of the reintegration part is still available and the government wants to promote lake because of the success.

High -rate percentage
Of the 24,000 cases followed, 87 percent still worked a year later, after five years 75 percent! “The decline is mainly due to retirement,” explains the statistics from Austria. Unemployed? Almost one topic: only 3.3 percent was without work one year after reintegration.

Mental diseases most common – but not an obstacle
Usually the reintegration was preceded by a mental illness that so often as muscle skeleton problems, which followed in second place. But it doesn’t matter whether depression, cancer or hernia disk: the success rate remains high! Even after mental disorders, 85 percent were still working a year later. The best quota (90 percent) was after accidents or poisoning.

Full time back? No problem!
Most have only temporarily reduced their hours. Even more: a quarter of the previous Source Employees even switched to full time! “This shows how well the gradual return works,” said the experts.

Minister of Social Affairs Korinna Schumann now wants to make the model of partial pension better known for small and medium -sized companies: “Since 2017, more than 28,000 people have taken the opportunity to integrate again.

Schumann also thanks “The companies who are willing to keep their specialists and also participate in finding a new job in daily work for those who return after an illness.” The companies also receive government support. Schumann: “Because the reintegration of reintegration receives work capacity, income ensures and protects the personal dignity of the affected ones.”
