The MD bivouac: A crazy morning

Date:

After 5 days at ‘Sea Camp’, Yesterday the real adventure began, mate the trips from bivouac to bivouac, one of the hardest to carry in this race. In the evening I entered the store at 00.00. Around 4:30 the alarm clock rang. I raised my head and, in the dark, began to sob.

A strong wind hit my tent. I had to get the mat. He couldn’t find the sleeping bag and at the same time he was trying to close the suitcase that was on it. I went out and looked at it in the wind it is impossible to take the tent. He was starting to suffer.

There are still 20 minutes before the bus leaves. In Dakar, if you don’t come, they don’t wait for you. I have seen it. But dakarian spirit It makes us all help each other. A partner saved me. He saw the open door of a barracks. There we sneak in to take over the store. We made it.

But when we left, we saw that another classmate had fallen asleep. He carried his tent without dismounting. He left her on the floor, with the mattress without letting the mattress out and some of her things to get. “We didn’t make it. We stay”, I thought.

I still don’t know how we did it, but We made it. We got into the bus sweating and the air conditioner hit us. Even on the plane. We finally reached AlUla at 9:20 am There we began to remember what it was like to drag a 22 kg suitcase through the sand to our position, carrying the tent, bag and the hanging mat at the same time. Our mornings are like this from now on.
