Infantino didn’t take long to respond to the accusations, insisting that the reason he took the ‘selfie’ was because Pelé’s teammates wanted it. “Pele’s teammates asked us all to take a selfie together, but they don’t know how to do it. So, to be helpful, I took one of their phones and took a picture of us all. If you criticize me for helping Ang Pele’s colleagues, so I accept it,” he wrote about the course of events on Instagram.

In addition, he admitted that he was “disappointed” by so much criticism: “I hope that those who published or said things without knowing or seeking information would have the dignity and courage to admit that they were wrong and correct their himself,” he asked.
