Van Aert took his seventh win of the season at Gullegem

the Belgian Wout van Aertthree-time cyclocross world champion, achieved his seventh win of this season by winning the Super prestige in Gullegem (Belgium).

Van Aert won with authority at Gullegem before his countrymen Eli Iserbytsecond to 23 seconds, and michael vanthourenhoutthird to 42.

In the first part of the event, the Jumbo-Visma rider let his rivals set the pace and stayed behind them. vanthourenhout eventually launched an attack, but Van Aerttoo helpful, neutralize it.

At the end of the second lap, the Belgian champions took control, leaving Iserbyt and Vanthourenhout with the single victory and by a wide margin.

“It was a difficult race because of the rain. The route became very technical,” Van Aert said in statements released by his team. “I struggled to find the right sensation. Now I want to spend more time behind others, but that has become more difficult. When I could follow my own lines, everything went more smoothly,” he added.

“I am pleased with my first win in Gullegem. The last few weeks have been good, and I have been successful in races where I have struggled in the past,” explained Van Aert.

The world champion, the British tom pidcockand the Dutch Mathieu van der Poel withdrew of the race. The Spanish Philip Orts went to seventh place at 2:09 minutes.
