The sports director of Borussia MonchengladbachRoland Virkus, assured, in statements to the newspaper ‘Rheinische Post’, that the Rhenish club will not allow the goalkeeper to leave Yann Sommer in Bayern Munich during this period of transition. “We will not let Yann Sommer go. We have conveyed it to Bayern that way.”
And it is that Bayern is focused on the Swiss international due to the injury to Manuel Neuer -fractured tibia and fibula-, which will keep him away from the courts for the rest of the season.
The Bavarians currently have Sven Ullreich, Neuer’s regular replacement, but have begun the search for a top-tier goalkeeper to cover the loss. Sommer became first choice after Alexander Nubel, currently on loan at Monaco from Bayern, announced he saw no point in returning to Munich and found himself on the bench when Neuer was recalled.
The ‘Rheinische’ Post says that, in order to sign Sommer, Bayern would have to present an “immoral offer” to Gladbach.
