Success of the dean Half Marathon in the Canary Islands

It’s worth the wait. The XXXII edition of the City of Tacoronte Half Marathon met the expectations and the lineup of luxurious runners that participated. With a large presence of outstanding athletes, the oldest 21k in the Canary Islands had the participation of almost 500 athletes who enjoyed a great morning for athletics. Fran Cabrera Galindo and Johanna Ardel won the long distance, while Aday Salas Lutzardo and Sandra Trujillo Armas won the 9.5 kilometer event, both organized by the Tacoronte City Council and the Canarian Athletics Federation.

The queen test was led by Fran Cabrera from Gran Canaria, who wore his new outfit for the first time: the Tenerife CajaCanarias shirt. In Tacoronte he took off to complete the 21 kilometer route in 01:10:17. The second is Saúl Castro, who also just joined the blue and white discipline. His time was 01:11:10. Third in contention is another regular of the best Canarian races: Ayoze Pérez Tejera. CorreAyo Spar Tenerife international (01:14:31) completed, a truly luxurious podium honoring the oldest half marathon in the Canary Islands.

Estonian winner Johana Ardel had little discussion, claiming victory in a time of 01:23:12. The CEA Tenerife 1984 runner was an unstoppable ball of fire for his rivals. He was followed closely by the athlete of Vallivana, Ana M. Boullón Sabín, who finished second with a time of 01:29:42, while the international and indomitable Amada de Jesús Sánchez, also from CD Vallivana, occupied the third step of the podium after finishing with a time of 01:32:46.

The short distance was as fast as expected and was resolved in an important duel between Aday Salas Lutzardo, from Tenerife CajaCanarias, and Raúl González del Toro, from Milla Chicharrera. Nine seconds separated first and second at the finish line. Aday stopped the clock in 31:04, while the second reached the finish line in 31:13 seconds. Third, and also very close to the first two, was Hacomar Rodríguez from Tenerife (CEA Tenerife 1984) with a time of 31:55.

The female modality was dominated by Sandra Trujillo Armas with a time of 38:08. Valentina Pelosi (39:40, Pinturas Jorba) followed her in the classification, while the third position on the podium was occupied by Rosa María Suárez (40:12, Olympus 21).

The half marathon, which started at 8:30 am, took place in its traditional layout, which usually includes one lane of the Carretera General del Norte, covering a route that starts from La Estación, in the direction of the roundabout from Casa del Vino at El Sauzal and back to San Lázaro, to La Laguna, and back to the starting point.

During the awards ceremony, it was announced that the next edition, which will be the thirty-third, will begin with the opening of registrations on February 14 and will take place before Christmas Eve 2023. place in the Plaza del Mercado de Tacoronte attended of the mayor of the municipality, José Daniel Díaz; the Councilor for Sports, José Antonio Gil; and the president of the Canarian Athletics Federation, Alberto Hernández.
