Anne Hidalgo, mayoress of Paris, continues without giving her arm to twist: “The Parc des Princes is not for sale,” she repeated in an interview with Le Parisien. The solid position leaves PSG in an uncomfortable scenario as it sees its intentions to acquire a stadium it wants to modernize frustrated again. The refusal of the council to carry out this operation, however, forces the club to be strong: if nothing changes, prepare its final departure in the medium term.
A spokesperson for the Parisian club was categorical when informed about the reaction of Anne Hidalgo: “Everyone loses with this uncompromising stance. PSG has invested 85 million euros and is ready to spend another 500 on the remodeling of the Parque de los Príncipes. However, this decision by the city council forces the club to leave its home and will place a tax burden of several million euros on the taxpayers of Paris ”, he added.
Although Anne Hidalgo is in favor of supporting PSG in its attempt to renovate the stadium, the council is still determined to renegotiate the works contract for the Parc des Princes to offer the club a long-term rental. Never a sale. The lack of understanding between the two parties is complete and it seems that they will not be able to get closer to their positions anytime soon. The file is still open, but PSG are increasingly clear that they need to move.
