Enric Mas: “The route of La Vuelta suits me, hopefully this year I will climb the small step that I left behind”

After finishing 2nd out of three times (2018, 2021 and 2022) in the return, Enric Mas (28 years old) cThis year he hopes to raise the quality of his performance and finally achieve his first victory in the Spanish round in what will be his tenth participation in a three-week long cycling tour. What do you think of the La Vuelta route?

I find this an attractive route. For me, personally, it’s a journey that I think suits me well and I hope I won’t say anything for a few months; but as I said, for me this is a journey that I want to start now.

It’s a route that rewards climbers, can we say it’s a dream route for Enric Mas?

It’s a route yes, which suits me very well. Now maybe I dreamed it.

This year the Vuelta presents many a priori decisive stages, which one would you highlight as important, which the fans cannot miss?

I think Tourmalet (13th), Angliru (17th), Andorra (3rd), also the last in 20th (with up to ten third-category ports in 208 kilometers in a profile which ‘Purito’ Rodríguez defined as a saw), I think these are some important stages and where we have to be vigilant and prepare for the worst.

What can we expect to see Enric Mas at the Vuelta?

Let’s see, when we are close to the end of La Vuelta I will be able to answer this question, but hopefully one day I will climb the small step I left and hopefully this year.

After two second places and on the road this year, the step may be up this year.
