As the first state worldwide, Russia has recognized the Taliban government almost four years after its reorganization in Afghanistan.
“We assume that the act of official recognition of the government of Islamic Emirate Afghanistan gives a boost to the development of productive bilateral cooperation,” said the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Moscow also wants to support Kabul support when combating terrorism and drug trafficking.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taliban spoke on the online platform X of a “historical step” for the relationship between the two countries. Russia gives a good example of other countries, the Islamists said.
