The BBC issued an apology on Tuesday after its coverage of the FA Cup match between Wolverhampton and Liverpool (0-1) was interrupted by a pornographic audio clip. Audio of a woman moaning was played at high volume as the presenter, Gary Lineker, sought expert Alan Shearer’s opinion ahead of the ‘red’ victory.
“I don’t know who’s making that noise,” Lineker said with a smile. “Someone’s phone is sending something. I don’t know if you can hear it at home…”.
The former England striker later said a phone was tapped in the back of the studio as a prank. “As far as bullshit goes, it’s pretty funny,” Lineker said on Twitter.
The BBC issued an apology, saying: “We apologize to any viewers who were offended by the live football coverage tonight. We are investigating how it all happened.”
