Pending Reports – Police Shots at Cars: Investigation to end soon

Date:

According to the prosecutor’s office, the reports and investigations into the shooting of a van stolen by young people in St. Johann in the Tyrolean district of Kitzbühel are complete. The officers fired nine times. A clerk checks the results and then a report is sent to the ministry.

It has been almost five months since a suspicious van reported stolen was the target of a police patrol in Wörgl. The “Tiroler Krone” reported several times. As a reminder, around 5 a.m. on August 26, officers saw the vehicle containing three youths, two 14-year-old locals and a 13-year-old Russian. When the three boys saw the officers, they gave each other a wild chase. This ended on the track in St. Johann.

Police fired nine shots
Police noticed a bang, probably from a blown tire. Not knowing who was in the vehicle, they opened fire. Nine shots hit the van. One of the two 14-year-olds was hit and injured in the hand and shoulder. Was the use of the firearm and especially the nine times the trigger justified? The determined policemen from Carinthia and the public prosecutor.

The “Tiroler Krone” is still on the case. And maybe results will come soon.

Investigation closed, report to ministry soon
Because according to Hansjörg Mayr, spokesperson for the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office, “the investigations and reports have now been completed”. Mayr has not yet said what became of it. The reason: “The administrator is now scrutinizing the results. A report is then sent to the ministry in Vienna.” Mayr thinks the end result will be on the table soon.

Comment “Krone”: questionable aftertaste
“Always Sundays” is the title of a hit by “Cindy and Bert” from 1973. Not on Sundays, but every Monday the “Tiroler Krone” calls Hansjörg Mayr to find out more about the shooting in St to ask Johann. So far the same answer has come “always on Mondays”: that the investigations are ongoing. It is almost a miracle that now apparently all investigations and reports have been completed and that it is the turn of the court clerk Vienna.

The trained Austrian knows that the mills in our ministries often grind extremely slowly. The question is whether there will actually be a result on the table in the short term. The “crown” of course remains aligned with the case. In any case, you will be surprised that the investigations can easily drag on for five months. That has a very dubious aftertaste to me.
