Cousins ​​on the run – robbery on money messengers solved after two years

The cousins ​​had thought their coup had gone through. But detectives from the National Criminal Investigation Department and the Wels public prosecutor’s office did not give up. The arrest succeeded two years and two months after the attack on May 13, 2020. The tip of a witness eventually led detectives to the lead of the 35-year-old prime suspect. He and his 33-year-old cousin, who is accused of babysitting and driving the getaway car, confessed to the robbery over the 35-year-old’s gambling addiction. The duo is now incarcerated.

That happened on May 13, 2020
Between 7 a.m. and 7:50 a.m., the perpetrators stole both number plates from a vehicle parked in the public parking lot of the Eferding outdoor swimming pool. They mounted this on a small car and drove from the B129 to the Sparkasse branch in Alkoven around 8 am. One offender parked the vehicle on the sidewalk behind the bank branch, the second, masked in a black hooded sweater, black balaclava, gray work gloves and a white gas mask, got out of the vehicle and headed straight for the bank’s main entrance. He entered the anteroom and waited there for the moneyman to arrive. Noticing this at the entrance, he purposely walked up to him and bumped into him.

The robber threatened the money courier with a gun and demanded that he hand over the cash box saying “Here’s the briefcase!” Not immediately complying with the request, he aimed the gun at the money courier’s body and snatched the briefcase with money from him. Then he ran to the getaway car. The two unknown perpetrators drove via the Alte Hauptstrae into the Berghamerstraße and further onto the B 129. From there they fled in an unknown direction. The money courier was not injured in the armed robbery, but was severely shocked.
