The 47-year-old didn’t stand a chance: the motorcyclist was thrown against the guardrail this afternoon in Gasen (district of Weiz) and catapulted 20 meters through the air; the Lower Austrian died at the scene of the accident.
A 47-year-old from the Wiener Neustadt-Land district was riding with another motorcyclist on the L104 between Birkfeld and Gasen at around 10:50 am. On a left turn, the man lost control of his motorcycle and fell.
Crashed into guardrail
As a result, his motorcycle collided with the guardrail on the right-hand side of the road and was then thrown about 20 meters through the air into the ditch. His injuries were so severe that any rescue for the man came too late; he died on the spot.
The second motorcyclist also fell
Directly behind the 47-year-old, a 37-year-old from the St. Pölten-Land district also rode his motorcycle. After the person driving in front of him fell, he also fell and slid into the right-hand ditch.
But he was lucky and escaped with only minor injuries. Significant damage was caused to both engines.
