The striker says goodbye to the Mar Menor and the region to join San Fernando, as when he left Murcia in January 2018 for Cyprus
He’s done it again. Dani Aquino, in his third spell in a team from the region, has decided to pack his bags and change his destination before the end of January, as well as his contract. He leaves, by mutual agreement with the Mar Menor, having played 16 games for the San Javier team, all starting, and scoring 5 goals. He leaves 30,000 euros in the box that San Fernando will pay for his transfer, in addition to releasing an almost similar amount of his salary for the rest of the season. It was not the attacker’s intention to leave, to leave home again, but the economic needs of the entity led by Daniel Núñez pushed him to do so, although with his farewell the Azulón team are main weapon for promotion loses.
A situation similar to that of the 2018/19 season at Real Murcia, when he forced his exit from the winter market. Then Tornel’s group had taken over the reins of a club managed by the Gálvez until a few weeks before his departure. The Oriolan businessmen had signed a contract with Aquino that the grana club itself, with the noose around its neck, could not fulfill.
The then-Granada striker scored 8 goals in 17 appearances and was the top scorer for a team that had an expensive squad that lost players in the winter market to ease the budget. Among them was Aquino who, despite the best efforts of the administration to keep him, set sail for Cyprus.
This campaign marked Dani Aquino’s third mid-course team change, having also done so in the 2012–13 season, which saw him make the jump to Atlético de Madrid’s subsidiary while playing for Oviedo.
Aquino, who played for Badajoz last season, dreamed of joining Real Murcia last summer, although Agustín Ramos and Antonio Pedreño rejected his signing despite trying to acquire him months before. He has also failed to return to the red team in this winter market and he will go to San Fernando, a club where he will fight to shine again.
