Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal lead the Premier League with authority but continue to strengthen its squad in this winter market. After bringing in Belgian winger Leandro Trossard last week, he has now announced the signing of Jakub Kiwior, a 22-year-old Polish central defender from Italian club Spezia.
Although Arsenal did not offer further details of the operation, the English media put the transfer at 25 million euros, in addition to the 24 paid by Trossard this January. Kiwior has signed a long-term contract, according to the London club, which will run until June 30, 2028.

“It’s great that Jakub has joined us,” Arteta said in the statement. “He is a young and versatile defender who has shown great potential and qualities with Spezia in Serie A and also internationally with the Polish national team. He will give us strength and quality in our defensive line.”
Kiwior trained at Polish club Tychi before moving to the lower divisions of Belgian Anderlecht and jumping into Slovak football, first at Podbrezova and a year later, in 2019, at Zilina. Spezia signed him in 2021 and since then he has been a fixture in Serie A.
Lewandowski’s partner
His excellent performance in ‘calcio’ led him to debut in June 2022 with the Polish team, led by Robert Lewandowski, and he started all four games at the World Cup in Qatar.
