The PSOE spokesperson at the Madrid Assembly, John Lobatohas registered a request for information to find out the details of the contracts signed between the Community of Madrid and the company Kosmos, by soccer player Gerard Piqué, for the matches of Davis Cup in the capital.
“We want to know whether the millions of euros paid by the Community of Madrid are allocated to tennis or there are some fees in commissions,” the PSOE-M general secretary asked in an interview with TVE.
Lobato pointed out that five million were invested last year for this competition and the PSOE wants to control the money that comes from the tax of the citizens of Madrid.
Lobato made this request after the publication of various information from the digital newspaper El Confidencial under the management of the president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, and Barcelona footballer Gerard Piqué for organization of Spain’s Super Cup competition in Saudi Arabia.
Published documents specify that the contract signed for six years with Saudi public company Sela guarantees an amount of 40 million euros for each edition of RFEF and 4 for Kosmos, a company of which Piqué is both owner.
Also, Rubiales vetoed a report from the Federation’s own Ethics Committee, which opposed the holding of the Super Cup in Saudi Arabia because it is a country that does not respect human rights – its members resigned immediately afterwards.
El Confidencial also indicates that the president of RFEF and Piqué have proposed to contact the king emeritus in case he helps in closing the agreement with Saudi Arabia.
