Rodrygo was Madrid’s hero again to force extra time against Atlético and spearheaded a return to the Copa del Rey semifinals with a fine goal. The Brazilian did not hide his delight at his performance and qualification and played down the ankle problem that forced him to be substituted in extra time.
“Playing in the middle is where I want to be, I’m happy for the good goal and for the classification. Today reminds us of the nights of last year,” he said, referring to the comebacks against Chelsea and City last season.
“We are fine, we have come back against a very difficult team to play and we have to continue like this. In extra time Ancelotti told us that we have to continue what we are doing, with confidence, because we know we have more legs than them”, gushed the Brazilian.
“I’m fine with my ankle, my tendon was a bit sore before the game and I felt sick and it’s better to leave. You just have to treat yourself but I’m fine,” he said.
