Leeds and Leicester progress to the FA Cup

Date:

There are no surprises in the relationship between Leeds and Leicester. Both teams eliminated Accrington Stanley and Walsall, respectively, to access the round of 16 of the FA Cup.

It was enough for Leeds to surge into the game to score two goals in three minutes and seal victory at The Wham Stadium. Jack Harrison opened the scoring for the visitors of the American Jesse Marsch in the 23′ but it was later, in the 66′ thanks to the Spanish defender Junior Firpo, and in the 69′, with a goal from Luis Sinisterra, when they got the qualification.

English third division side Accrington scored the crowning glory nine minutes from time thanks to Leslie Adekoya.

Leicester also survived the Cup, parading their poor streak in the Premier to cheer. They won at Bescot Stadium against Walsall, from fourth, with a goal from Iheanacho in the 68th minute. Victory for Brendan Rodgers’ side could have been greater but Belgian Yuri Tielemans missed a penalty early in the second half.

Leeds and Leicester join Manchester City in the round of 16, who eliminated Arsenal on Friday after winning 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
