“You don’t become a referee until you hit a white bus”

Date:

Eduardo Iturralde Gonzáleza former collegiate who now works as a commentator in the SER chain, revealed this Saturday the presence, in the arbitration group, of ‘white bus’ theory, referring to media power of Real Madrid, used to try to influence referees when they whistle for the white box.

“This theory was explained to me by Díaz Vega (former director of the Technical Committee of Referees)”, revealed the former international. “You don’t become a referee until you hit a white bus, I was told. What is this about the white bus? In the First Division there is three groups of groups at the media level: the teams of the First; he is done boatwhich is one of those with the most power in the media, and then, above all others and Barça, the Real Madrid, already shaking a lot of press, more than Barça, whether we like it or not”.

And Iturralde continued: “And when will you be a referee? When you hit the white bus, for better or for worse, when you are wrong for or against Madrid, because all the press makes a lot of noise. Not that you hit the white bus when they benefited, no; and when you hurt them too. That’s when you see the referee, when next Sunday it whistles the same, that when Real Madrid whistles again, it will also whistle, with its successes and mistakes”.

And focusing his comments on the referee for this Thursday’s cup derby between Real Madrid and Atlético, he concluded: “Soto Grado hit the white bus in a play. And some have come out in the media to say that this is a punishment and others are not. Now I want to see Soto Grado when he whistles again for Madrid, that personality, that he has a clean mind to go out and whistle what he should whistle”.
