Fire alarm early Sunday morning in Pfunds in the Tyrolean district of Landeck: A company building was on fire and other buildings in the center were set on fire. Six fire brigades with 180 emergency services fought the flames, one man had to be taken to hospital.
For reasons that are still unclear, a fire broke out in the uninhabited farm building around 4:45 a.m. When firefighters arrived, the house was already engulfed in flames. The flames spread to the wooden structure of a neighboring house and due to the enormous heat that was created, the balcony and the wooden paneling of another house caught fire.
The residents of the affected and surrounding houses had to be evacuated, including guests of a nearby hotel. No one was injured by local residents, but police say a firefighter was injured when he fell off a ladder. After being treated by the emergency doctor, he was taken to Zams Hospital.
Firefighters get to work
In the morning, the emergency services finally managed to get the flames under control, but the post-extinguishing work continued. A total of 180 firefighters from six cities were deployed.
Police investigators are now trying to determine how the fire started. Due to the work, the main road through the Stuben district was initially closed to all traffic in the morning.
