English Justin Rose on Monday ended more than four years without a title by capturing the Pebble Beach Pro-Am with a total of 18 under par and three shots ahead of the Americans Brandon Todd and Brandon Wuafter high winds and rain prevented the tournament from closing on Sunday.
Rose, 42, completed just nine holes on Sunday, before the day was cut short by a lack of light, and started strongly on Monday, with three birdies in five holes to pave the way to victory.
The Englishman, Olympic champion in Rio 2016 and with a ‘Major’ (2013 US Open) in his history, celebrated his eleventh title on the PGA circuit and the number 25 of his career, after breaking the drought of victories that lasted since January 27, 2019 he won the Farmers Insurance Open.
His final round was 66 strokes, five under par, for a total of 269 (-18) in this tournament, which began on Thursday and was marked by difficult weather conditions.
They had no chance of surpassing Todd, who finished with a combined -15, or Wu, who also totaled -15.
The Pebble Beach tournament also had the participation of a group of novices that included Spaniards Paul Gasolthe Welsh Gareth Bale or Aaron Rodgersquarterback for the Green Bay Packers.
It was definitely Rodgers, who competed as a pair with Ben Silverman, who won Sunday’s Pro-Am tournament, with a combined -26. “It means a lot to me, it’s something that’s always been on my wish list. I’ve played at Tahoe for 18 years and never got higher than eighth,” Rodgers said.
