The Spanish tennis player Rebecca Masarova said goodbye to Linz tournament (Austria)WTA 250 category on hard courts, after losing in the second round against the Czech Marketa Vondrousovaimposed by a resounding 6-1 and 6-1.
The match, almost an hour long, the first between the two, was very easy for Vondrousova (n.89 WTA), who surrendered only two games (one in each set) to the born in Basel (Switzerland), of a Slovenian father and Spanish mother.
A result was very strong and surprising, because Masarova eliminated the Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, who was the second favorite of the tournament, in the first round, and in the same 2023 she managed to reach her first WTA final, in Auckland.
Also surprising was the defeat of Romanian Irina-Camelia-Begu (n.27), third favorite, in a first round match, against Danish Clara Tauson (n.141), who defeated her comprehensively 6-1 and 6 -2.
