Maguire received a bomb threat in his home

Date:

Harry Maguire, Manchester United captain, received a bomb threat at his home in Cheshire in recent hours and, after reporting the incident, local police conducted a search, according to English media.

Maguire, who lives with his girlfriend and two young children, received the threat via email.

Cheshire Police confirmed in a statement that they were alerted Wednesday to a bomb threat in the Wilmslow area. The day before, on Tuesday, Maguire played with United in the derby that Liverpool won 4-0 at Anfield.

“There were no evacuations, but as a precautionary measure, an explosive detection dog arrived at the home this afternoon, Thursday, April 21, to conduct a search in the gardens and surroundings,” the police statement added.

Cruelly criticized and hissed by his fans

Maguire has come under intense criticism in recent months for his disappointing performances for United and England due to declining performances this season.

The 29-year-old center-back was even booed by United fans as well as the friendship that England beat Ivory Coast in March at Wembley (3-0).

“In the last 24 hours, Harry has received serious threats against his family’s home,” the BBC quoted the England international spokesman in a statement. “The safety of his family and those around him is clearly Harry’s number one priority.”

Everything indicates that United-Arsenal will play

United host Arsenal at Old Trafford on Saturday in a major race game for a place in the Champions League.

“He (Maguire) will continue to prepare for this weekend’s game as normal and we will not comment on any further details at this time,” the spokesperson added.
