Feyenoord is the leader again and Ajax is full with Heitinga

Feyenoord, with a goal from Mexican Santiago Giménez deciding the game, regained victory in the Eredivisie by beating Heerenveen at the Abe Lenstra Stadion (1-2) and regained the lead that had been lost for several time.

The Rotterdam team temporarily fell out of first place on Friday when second-placed AZ beat Excelsior 5-0. After beating Heerenveen, Feyenoord is back on top, two points ahead of AZ.

Feyenoord, who have made it two in a row after last weekend’s 2-2 draw against PSV, opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a goal from Lutsharel Geertruida and sealed it with a goal signed by the Mexican Santiago Giménez ten minutes from intermission.

Heerenven is moving away from the European zone. They conceded their fourth successive defeat despite Syb Van Ottele closing the gap with a quarter of an hour remaining.

Feyenoord lead with two points ahead of AZ Alkmaar, three of Ajax, who beat RKC Waalwijk (3-1) today, and four of PSV Einhoven.

Ajax reacted in time and came back from the first advantage of RKC Waalwijk to seal the victory at the Johan Cruyff Arena (3-1) and return to the third place that PSV temporarily took from them.

Ajax, the defending champions, have continued their improvement with John Heitinga, who replaced the sacked Alfred Schreuder, and have won all four games (three in the Eredivisie and one in the Cup) since his arrival on his bench.

RKC Waalwijk took the lead after a quarter of an hour with Mats Seuntjens’ goal from Spaniard Julen Lobete’s pass.

Ajax did not equalize until the beginning of the second half. Brian Brobbey is tied. And they accelerated in the final stretch as they took control of the game: Jurrien Timber scored the second in the 78′ and four minutes later Mohammed Kudus secured the home victory.
