Cartagena B already has 14 players for next year

Date:

Fromsa and José Manuel return to the subsidiary after the transfer, while Checo and Óscar Medina are contracted until 2024 in their first senior season

Although Cartagena B has set its sights on next Sunday’s match (Santo Domingo, 5 p.m.) against El Ejido, the sports schedule is already looking forward to the 2023/24 season. The albinegro subsidiary has guaranteed the presence of fourteen players with a valid contract for the next course, if everything continues on this path in the Second Federation.

Those fourteen footballers are goalkeeper Saldaña; defenders Farru and Carlos Sánchez; the midfielder Cassio; playmaker Diego Iglesias; the forwards Enrico Dueñas and Iván Ayllón; the winger Ayán and the versatile Diego de Pedro. As of today, they are all guaranteed continuity, as their contracts expire in June 2024. To all of them we must add two players who will return after their loan: the central defender Fromsa and the midfielder José Manuel.

In addition, the current selection of the Division of Honor includes two players, goalkeeper Óscar Medina and Czech pivot, who will no longer be youth players next season. Both, affiliated with the club until June 2024, are already frequently in the subsidiary and have even trained with the first team. Luis Carrión has called up the goalkeeper in official Copa del Rey matches, due to Escandell’s injury and the fact that Sergio Díaz was older than allowed by the regulations. Adrián Sanmartín will also continue until 2025, although the boy from La Puyola has another year as a youth player.

The most unusual case is that of Djaka. The Ivorian midfielder has a contract that runs until June 2026. The boy, who came over from Leganés from Felipe Moreno, has already played several times in the Second Division and was a regular in the training of the first team for a large part of the season.

Cartagena B has already laid a good foundation for the future. A lot of pieces have changed this past summer, after the jump from Third to Second RFEF. Now Pepe Aguilar’s team faces the challenge of retaining the category with some of their homework done.

Efesé’s subsidiary takes a quiet position in the standings, 6 points above the direct relegation places to third place. The next game is against El Ejido, a team that marks exactly that red zone with 22 points. This match and the next, both at home against Granada B and Utrera, are vital to securing a save.
