the captain of Chelsea, Cesar Azpilicueta, has been released from hospital and is making a “good recovery” after being kicked in the head during an English Premier League match, the club said on Tuesday. Navarrese had to wear an oxygen mask after being hit in the face by Southampton’s Sékou Mara in Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Chelsea said Azpilicueta had suffered a concussion and returned to the club’s training ground this morning. “The club’s medical team is closely monitoring César’s health, following important concussion protocols to ensure his safety,” Chelsea said. “Cesar watched training today before he started working to get back on the field,” he added.
Azpilicueta, 33, joined Chelsea in 2012 and helped the club win two Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2021. He was named captain in 2019.
