Courtois: “My goal was a piece of bad luck”

Date:

Thibaut Courtois was one of the stars of the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 match between Madrid and Liverpool at Anfield for his serious error that put Klopp’s side 2-0 up. “We dedicate the victory to Amancio, a legend has left us,” the Belgian began his remarks.

“It’s a bit unlucky to be broken like that. It doesn’t happen very often. It’s a bit difficult ball that I control well, I want to pass to Salah but I see he stays and the ball bounces on my knee. It’s unlucky but we know we’re going to hurt they and Vini’s goal allowed us to breathe”, he confessed.

“The decision helped us to react, we know we have a lot of games and goals and we can hurt them on the counters. It is always a pleasure to play here, especially in the Champions League. There is a good atmosphere and they know if how to appreciate players as good as Modric and Benzema”, he pointed out.

Courtois avoided putting Madrid as strong favorites for the title. “Let’s see how far we can go. Madrid are always in the fight. We have to admit that Liverpool are not the same team as last season. They play very well but are weaker at the back. We can’t rest because we know that. what happened to Chelsea last year,” he recalled.
