Argentine defender Mateo Carabajal scored the goal that decided the 1-0 win for Free Valley about him flamencofrom Brazil, in the first leg of South American Cup Winners’ Cupwhich was played this Tuesday in the valley of Chillos, near the Ecuadorian capital, Quito.
The match was tight due to Flamengo’s defensive and counterattacking proposal, against an opponent based on persistence, effort and willingness to win, achieving their goal in the 68th minute.
Independiente del Valle had goalkeeper Moisés Ramírez as the savior of the first half, as he won decisive duels against David Luiz, Ayrton and Gabriel Barbosa.
At the end of the first half, from a free kick taken by Giorgian De Arrascaeta the ball eluded Ramírez, but he was assisted by Beder Caicedo, who prevented the clear arrival of Luiz to finish the action.
Actions showing how dangerous the visitor is who, with less attack, brought more danger to the opposite goal, taking advantage of the gaps he found in the defense and used the precision of long-distance passes in search of Gabriel Barbosa and Pedro.

Independiente del Valle increased the pressure and Argentinian defender Agustín García Basso made a game for himself in the position of a goalscorer, goalkeeper Santos half denied the ball, García helped himself with his hand and scored, but the Chilean referee Piero Maza annulled the action, as a result of the attacking foul.
The second leg will be played next Tuesday, in Brazil, where the new South American Recopa champion will emerge.
