Scarce point of Cartagena B to avoid relegation

Date:

The albinegro daughter saves the tie in a good second half, but is still in a dangerous zone after winning only one game in the last nine

Cartagena B is playing with fire in 2023. The Efesé subsidiary has won just one game in its last nine, 6 of the 27 points that put Pepe Aguilar’s team in the lower mid-table. Yesterday’s draw against Granada B (1-1) is not enough to get away from the danger zone: the direct relegation places are 4 out and the playout 3. Next Sunday’s home game, against sub-club Utrera, is the key to return to the path of victory.

Pepe Aguilar’s boys saved a point in a good second half against Granada B. The side took a step forward with the entry of Teddy, who replaced the insignificant Pedro García at half-time. The winger of La Aparecida, of British descent, brought dizziness, dynamism and presence to the Nasrid area; quite the opposite from the side of Cartagena, really unhappy in the 0-1 of the visitors.

García badly cleared a cross from the Nasrid daughter, released the ball in the penalty area and Drissa Ballo took advantage of it to put the Nasrid daughter ahead. The man from Cartagena should have gotten along better with central defender Antonio Sánchez to clear that ball more clearly. That goal against confirmed Granada B’s dominance in the first half: it made it difficult for the white-black ball to get out, minimized the opponent’s arrivals and Mario da Costa hit the crossbar with a shot.

Everything changed after the break with the arrival of Teddy. And the tactical variations introduced by Pepe Aguilar to change the face of his team. Teddy himself managed to equalize in a good individual action; and before that also the frustrated Jeriel in a good wall with Luis Castillo and in a poisoned header.

The reward for that step for Cartagena B came in the 66th minute from set pieces. A good corner served by Diego Iglesias from Cartagena was headed into the back of goal by Antonio Sánchez. Good goal from the central defender of Huércal-Overa. The albinegros were looking for the 2-1 until the end, were in possession of the ball and always focused on the attack. Quite the opposite of Granada B, sheltered yesterday with the noticeable loss of the top scorer of Group IV of the Second RFEF: Nigerian Samuel Omorodión.

The Cartagena B chains a long bump without adding three. In the last nine games they only won against Sanluqueño, drew three games and lost five. In the lower section, El Ejido is already squeezing, with two wins in a row; Jerez believes it, Sevilla Atlético does not give up an impossible and bottom club Utrera fights. Next week the Sevillians will visit La Manga Club. It will be vital to keep the albinegro daughter from getting into a complete mess.
