Antonio Conte, Tottenham coach and recovering from a gallbladder intervention, will not yet lead his team in the FA Cup round of 16 this Wednesday at home to Sheffield United (currently in the Second Division). This was explained on Tuesday by Cristian Stellini, Conte’s assistant and who thinks that the Italian coach “will be back this week, but not in this game”.
Stellini told the media that “we are still waiting for him to come back, but Antonio (Conte) is here, we are working with him and we are talking a lot.” Conte’s assistant added that “the doctors are visiting him every day looking for the right moment and I think it is this week.” Stellini is currently in charge of the team.
Last season, Tottenham were eliminated from the FA Cup exactly in the round of 16 (1-0 against Middlesbrough) and Stellini stressed that this Wednesday’s match at Bramall will not be easy. “This is a very important competition for us and I hope that this time we will play our cards,” said Stellini, who has basically the same group, list-wise, that beat Chelsea 2-0 on Sunday.
