Aston Martin has confirmed that Lance Stroll will be Alonso’s teammate in Bahrain

Speculations are over. Lance Stroll will join Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin at the Bahrain Grand Prix after missing preseason practice with a wrist injury.

In Stroll’s absence, Alonso and Drugovich set some fast times in practiceindicating that Aston Martin may have the pace to lead the midfield teams or perhaps challenge the likes of Mercedes or Ferrari.

“It was an unfortunate accident. I fell off my bike when my tire punctured the ground. Fortunately, the damage is not great and a small surgical intervention on the right wrist the problem was quickly solved” explained the pilot.

Formula Two champion Drugovich and another reserve, former McLaren driver Stoffel Vandoorne, will remain at the Bahrain track this weekend.

Stroll, son of businessman and Aston Martin CEO Lawrence Stroll, is entering his seventh season in F1 and has three podium finishes in his career.

Training begins on Friday in Bahrain before the season-opening race on Sunday.
