Oliver Solberg’s car caught fire

Date:

It wasn’t a good start on stage for the young rider Oliver Solberg and his co-driver Elliott Edmondson. An accident in the opening stage of the second stage of Rally Croatia caused a fire in the back of the Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC.

The swift action of the British co-pilot and the Swedish pilot, and the nearby public helped to stop the fire and prevent further damage to material and people. Although the section had to be canceled, the occupants of the vehicle did not suffer any physical injury.

The fire was caused by the exhaust pipe sticking to the undergrowths surrounding the tree where they were affected when they lost control of the vehicle.

The third round of the world championship is progressing in a satisfying way for the number 2 Hyundai drivers who are fifth in the standings.

The team will try to fix all the damage to the car and recover it as quickly as possible.
