In the Finnish city of Tampere, several people were injured in a knife attack on Thursday afternoon. One person was arrested that there is no danger to the population, the police said.
The incident took place near a shopping center in Tampere in the south of Finland. In the beginning it was not clear how many people were injured in the attack. International media recently reported that the police had spoken about four injured people. The victims of the crime received first aid – how seriously they were injured, was initially unknown.
The police arrested a suspect, according to the local media, it was a man in the twenties. The crime scene was dropped off while the police interviewed eyewitnesses.
The Finnish newspaper “Aamulehti” reported that the police were blocking the doors of the shopping center and that nobody was allowed to leave or entered the building. Further details and backgrounds of the incident remained completely unclear.
Tampere is approximately 160 kilometers northwest of the Finnish capital Helsinki and with its nearly 250,000 inhabitants is one of the largest cities in Finland.
