Tiger Woods has been sued by ex-girlfriend Erica Herman

Date:

Erica Herman, ex-girlfriend of former world number one Tiger Woods, winner of 15 majors and 82 tournaments on the PGA Tour, has filed two lawsuits against parties representing the California golfer. Herman is seeking $30 million in damages amid the domestic dispute, as well as the dissolution of a confidentiality agreement she signed when they began their relationship in 2017.

Woods and Herman have not publicly announced the end of their relationship, which began in 2017. He is regularly seen with her at major championships, such as the 2019 Masters won by Tiger (his 15th major) and during the his captaincy of the Presidents Cup in Australia later that year. But he was not at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas in the first week of December, or at the Genesis Invitational hosted by Woods’ foundation at the Riviera three weeks ago.

According to the complaint, a trust controlled by Woods is trying to silence Herman on a non-disclosure agreement he signed while involved in a personal and professional relationship with Woods. The complaint argues that the confidentiality agreement should be invalidated under a federal statute that prohibits the application of a confidentiality agreement to sexual assault or sexual harassment.

Herman previously worked at Woods’ Jupiter restaurant. The complaint does not provide details about what information Herman may want to disclose or make specific allegations against Woods. D that because of the “aggressive use” of the confidentiality agreement, Herman was unsure whether he could disclose “facts giving rise to various legal claims that he believed he had.” He also said that he was not sure what other information about his own life he could discuss and with whom.

Woods, 47, broke up with Herman, 38, and allegedly left her home last year, according to ‘USA Today’, which reviewed court records from the first case, which was filed in October 2022. In addition In the financial damages he is seeking, Herman accuses Woods’ trust agents of misappropriating $40,000 of his own money.

Herman’s attorney, in a lawsuit filed this week, further argued that the confidentiality agreement he signed more than five years ago should be declared unenforceable under the federal Speak Out Act. This law, which took effect on December 7, 2022 and was approved as a result of the #MeToo movement, prevents the application of confidentiality agreements in cases of sexual harassment and assault.

Herman cited attempts by a trust controlled by Woods to enforce the confidentiality agreement he signed more than five years ago in an effort to keep the details of their long-term relationship private. The Woods trust requested arbitration regarding the confidentiality agreement.

Tiger announced that he will not play The Players Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach in order to better prepare for the Masters at Augusta National Golf Course from April 6-9.
