Elche midfielder Tete Morente announced this Thursday, in a press conference, that his team wants to chain two or three victories in the coming days to fight for permanence until the end of the championship.
“It is very difficult to go many games without winning, but the victory in Mallorca makes us think differently,” said the man from Cádiz, who declared that the team is more convinced of the work it is doing.
Tete Morente admitted that the options for staying up are “very difficult”, but assured that as long as there are points at stake, Elche sees survival as “possible”.
“There are always possibilities”, repeated the player, who assumed that he or the rest of his teammates have been at the same level in past seasons “because if the dynamics are not good, nobody can give their best performance”.
The midfielder thanked the fans for their love in recent days after turning around a difficult situation, where he was booed by the stands.
“It’s not easy for your fans to boo you, but sacrifice and work will overcome it. Mentally I am strong”, added Morente, who thanked the work done by a sports psychologist from outside the club.
The player, who had one foot outside the club during the winter transfer window, made sure he did not want to leave Elche and appreciated the club’s love for Pacheta, the Valladolid coach, whom he never met.
“It will be a special game because the people love it so much, but we hope to get all three points,” said the man from Cádiz, who felt his team could hurt Valladolid “in the game in those wings.”
Finally, Morente described the Elche fans as “the best of the season”, as he stressed that despite the fact that the team has always been the bottom team “it has always been there”.
